A cultural perspective on language.
I'm a translator and proofreader, bringing your English content into my native language, French.
As I expand my work into proofreading and copy editing, I'm currently completing the « Certification en langue française », an initial Expert-level training programme, at the École Française de Lecteur-Correcteur.

I was born on a Wednesday, very early in the morning, just after a public holiday… [fast forward].
Don't worry, I'll spare you the details.
I followed a multidisciplinary path in art history and archaeology, Vietnamese language and civilisation, cultural mediation and translation, which fed my curiosity, deepened my understanding of others and developed my thinking.
Art history and archaeology
Seeing differently
Studying art history and archaeology taught me to observe the world through different eyes and different ways of thinking, to reason in the conditional, and not to regard my own convictions as absolute.
Languages
Thinking differently
Languages made me realise that there are as many ways of seeing and understanding the world as there are languages in which to express it.
They are part of our identity and of the way we relate to others.
We become someone else.
Cultural mediation
Making it accessible
Through cultural mediation, I learned how to make cultural content accessible to an audience and adapt the way it is presented to the people it is intended for.
Editorial writing
Seeing through the author's eyes
Editorial writing allowed me to step into the shoes of an author or photographer, grasp their intention and vision, look through their lens, and convey in my own words the message they wish to share with their readers.
Human resources
Listening, collaborating
Working in human resources gave me the opportunity to develop my ability to listen and to collaborate with a wide range of people in varied professional contexts.
And professional translation brought all of this together.

That is the common thread running through my professional journey.
Experience
I began my career as a translator and proofreader in 2012. I first worked on content across a range of fields, from IT to fashion and luxury, as well as hospitality.
Specialisation
I later specialised in the video game industry, where creativity and the ability to work within technical constraints are at least as essential as an understanding of cultural nuance.
Transmission
When I take on a translation project, I help its content cross from one socio-cultural context to another through translation, so that it can reach its intended audience and be understood by them.
Ideally, the reader should neither perceive nor realise that they are reading a translation.
The translation fades.
The content remains.
